The Microsoft Outlook app for Android and iOS and the Edison Mail app share passwords with third parties

The Microsoft Outlook app for Android and iOS and the Edison Mail app (all platforms) are not permitted for accessing e-mails from university e-mail accounts (via Exchange, IMAP or POP). By using these apps, you are passing on information such as your passwords to third parties. Although the Outlook app uses the Microsoft Outlook logo, it originates from the company Acompli and stores login data on third-party servers outside the GDPR area (see Heise). The Edison Mail app also stores login data on third-party servers and also analyzes incoming e-mails before delivery (see Edison Mail privacy policy).
Uninstall the Outlook app for Android or iOS and the Edison Mail app if you have used them on your device and change the passwords of all e-mail accounts that you have connected via these apps.
Further information on transmitting data to a cloud via the e-mail program can be found here.
