Abstract: We construct a cross ratio triple on the (maximal) Furstenberg boundary of a higher rank symmetric space of non-compact type. This will generalize the usual cross ratio on the boundary of a rank one symmetric space. In particular, we show that the cross ratio triple-preserving maps are exactly the restrictions of the isometries of the symmetric space to the Furstenberg boundary.
