Profile sharpening

Adopting suggestions from the ranks of our researchers, the Rectorate is working to critically examine the University’s profile areas and potentials and engage in a comprehensive phase of profile sharpening. To achieve its goal of increasing the visibility of the University’s outstanding research endeavours, the Rectorate will be extensively reviewing the research profile of the University with the broad-based involvement of its academic staff. The Future Lab will be coordinating and supporting the process both within the Rectorate and publicly throughout the University.

In order to engage in ongoing dialogue about the profiles and potentials of the University, the Future Lab is offering researchers in the profile and potential areas opportunities to network and share expertise, and is coordinating the areas in a needs-based manner, e.g. with respect to new networking activities.

EUN Ulysseus

Following an initial show of interest in becoming a partner of Ulysseus, one of the “European Universities” financed by the European Commission and the EU through Erasmus+ since 2019, the University of Münster had the pleasure of receiving a high-ranking delegation from the Ulysseus Initiative on 10 June 2022. Ulysseus serves as a network for the Universities of Sevilla, Côte D’Azur (Nice) and Genoa, the Technical University of Košice, the Haaga-Helia University of Applied Sciences (Helsinki) and the MCI Entrepreneurial School (Innsbruck). On the basis of a presentation highlighting the University’s research, teaching and transfer activities, EUN decided to accept the University of Münster as a full-fledged member and equal partner in Ulysseus.

Currently, the University of Münster is working with its Ulysseus partners on a proposal for the next round of funding. The University will be establishing a so-called Innovation Hub on the thematic complex of “Sustainability”, thereby contributing an additional research, teaching, transfer and regional development node to the EUN consortium. In addition, the University of Münster is also collaborating with its partners to develop study, research and teaching programmes and create collaborative structures.

The Future Lab is responsible for setting up and coordinating the EUN Ulysseus projects within the University of Münster.
